Carving off the Corner Seminars
Would you like to learn to carve a face that is in the right porportion and is realistic, with correct features? I am offering 2 or 3 day seminars to teach your group how to accomplish that. I would love to come to your club or group to teach and carve with you. You can select any of the many faces that I carve in this style. With the Exception of the Oak Greenman that will require a 3 day class.
I call it carving off the corner because I start with a Triangular shaped block of Basswood. Why, you might ask? Because the Human face, below the brow is about 45 degrees and to keep the face from being flat. It also keep you from removing a lot of wood to start the face.
You will learn the tools that I use and the way to lay out any kind of face, and how to match the face size with the size of the material that you might use.
You will learn the general rules for face lay out and the cuts to make the face you carve come alive.
You will learn how to carve a realistic eye and my method for carving hair with texture and flow.
Also how to paint your carving if there is enough time left after carving.
This seminar can cut years off the learning process of face carving.
This seminar is geared for the intermediate carver.
